Welcome To ThinkNot, Matthew 5:17.

Why do I need to obey the "LAW"?

Many people think that Gods teaching and instruction are a grievous thing. They refuse to follow instructions given to them by their creator. Many will say that those instructions were for "The Jews". If you think about that statement in how that would have taken place it would seem ridiculous. When the children of Israel were wandering in the desert with Moses there were approximately 3 million people. So if you were going to say that the "Law" is for the "Jews" then you would have to say that God called down from the mountain and said to Moses: "I need to speak to the tribe of Judah and maybe Benjamin too but you can just tell the other couple of million people to just go do what ever." Absurd! Everyone heard the voice of God and every one agreed to his covenant even before they heard his commandments.

Our Agreement With God

The whole house of Israel made an agreement with God that was through out their generations. I know that in Sunday school you sang the song Father Abraham had many sons... Many sons had father Abraham... I am one of them and so are you... so lets just praise the Lord! That contract your ancestors made is binding to you and through out the generations. We don’t know if we are blood related to any of the sons of Israel but through Jesus we are grafted in to the true vine. We become a seed of Abraham, thereby obligating us to those covenants our ancestors agreed to.

Exodus 20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

Deuteronomy 5:27 Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

Galatians 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Mathew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Through faith in Jesus you then become a seed of Abraham. His seed was to be as numerous and the sands of the sea, as the stars in the sky, those seeds are the Christian people. If you are a seed of Abraham then the covenant he made with our ancestors if still binding today and until the earth is no more. Remember, until heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle will pass away from the law.

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

Ask yourself, what might happen if I break the law and run the stop sign?

Why do we have traffic laws and what is their purpose?

Is it to protect? Does it put a "yoke" on you?
